All the design innovations from our fourth STRIKE have been applied to this STRIKE CWC. This wing features once more a super intuitive pumping with a certain flexibility that makes it easy to start planing without having to expend a lot of energy or learn a special technique. Each pumping motion smoothly propels you forward, guaranteeing an instantaneous take-off and more efficiency than ever.

Materials

The leading edge of this fourth STRIKE CWC remains in HITEX 158g and 178g. This high tenacity polyester offers great resistance to elongation and therefore greater durability and performances. Both HITEX weights are perfectly distributed to account for the different tensions, high pressures, and weight distribution in this area.

The innovation of this wing lies in the strategic placement of ALUULA on its three struts. Thanks to the mechanical properties of this light and resistant material, the central strut is now thinner. This results in less drag and a noticeable reduction in weight, which also favors freefly and handling during downwinders or jibes. Finally, the ALUULA struts reduce inertia during maneuvers, transitions, and pumping.

Guaranteeing performance and durability, our thicker TECHNOFORCE™/D2 in 66g has been placed on the trailing edge where tensions are important and resistance essential. The rest of the wing’s canopy is in TECHNOFORCE™/D2 in 52g.

 

Design

The central strut of the CWC is now completely straight, which allows us to better control its deformation and possible twisting, while reducing drag. As a result, the infill is a bit lower and deforms less, and we’ve extended it almost all the way to the back. Our innovative Load Diffuser is reduced for weight gain, especially during freefly.We’ve also added dihedral angle to improve stability and keep the wingtips out of the water when pumping and riding. The new leading and trailing edge tensions help keep the profile smooth and stable for incredible performance and control.The wing’s body features a horizontal cut to optimize the weight of the seams on these large-surface, light-wind wings. The trailing edge features a vertical cut in 66g for ideal traction control. A small radial cut is implemented on the back of the strut to spread tensions. Finally, the Load Diffuser further helps maintain the profile sleek and efficient, leading to the ultimate stability, performances, and longevity.The accurate panel layout, precise load management and staggered seams continue to bring exceptional control of the profile. The materials are also perfectly distributed to account for the different tensions, high pressures, and weight distribution in each specific area.

HITEX

To meet the specific needs of the development of wings and kites, and to offer a high-performance and durable product without using inaccessible materials, F-ONE has developed HITEX, a new high tenacity polyester. Available in 158g, and exclusively for F-ONE in 178g, this new material is incredibly resistant to elongation and increases the durability of wings and kites.

HITEX is an innovative, high tenacity polyester fiber with an enhanced high-quality weaving and coating that increases the fabrics’ resistance. The 178g is a new weight and perfectly matches the needs of the center strut and center of its leading edge. The lighter 158g is used in the leading edge tips.

Used throughout the inflatable structure of the wings and kites and designed to handle the high pressures when inflating, HITEX offers performance and resistance. Thanks to extensive Sail Engineering work, the R&D team has placed each weight of HITEX in different areas allowing absolute control of the shape session after session.

ALUULA®

The ALUULA Gold represents a pioneering category of composite material. This dacron benefits from an ultra-lightweight yet incredibly durable composition.
Its unmatched strength-to-weight ratio allows for faster speeds, higher jumps, and greater maneuverability.

When strategically used to stiffen struts like in our STRIKE CWC, the ALUULA Gold ensures that the wing is lightweight, robust and long-lasting, while also enhancing performance and responsiveness on the water.

LOAD DIFFUSER

STRIKE CWC VALVES

The wing features two highly efficient inflation valves: one on the central strut and one on the leading edge. These two areas of the wing face different forces, and thus require two different pressure recommendations. As a result, the central strut is thinner in diameter and gains in rigidity thanks to its independent valve that allows for a better control of its pressure.

INTERCHANGEABLE WING HANDLES SYSTEM

For this SWING V3, we have worked on its lightweight feel and balance to allow us to orient its program towards surfing and downwind. We mainly focused on three areas: the materials, the placement of these materials and the design to improve control and durability. 

MATERIALS 

The airframe of the SWING V3 is made of HITEX 158g and 178g. This brand-new high tenacity polyester exclusive to F-ONE offers great resistance to elongation and therefore greater durability and performances. 

The central strut is thinner in diameter thanks to the HITEX 158g and its independent valve that allows for a better control of its pressure. Its longitudinal reinforcements also help control its shape and resistance. 

The three central segments of the leading edge on each side of the strut are made of HITEX 178g, while the remaining segments are in 158g. Both materials are perfectly distributed to account for the different tensions, high pressures, and weight distribution in this area. 

Since the beginning, we have also kept a thin leading edge diameter at the wingtips, bringing agility, comfort and glide, but also lightness and less inertia. 

The SWING V3 features our new NANO canopy. This innovative micro ripstop polyester in 55g is used on the entire canopy of the wing, except on the trailing edge. It benefits from a NANO coating and a Plasma treatment process that brings an increased rigidity, resistance to elongation and tears, and durability. 

Finally, the trailing edge of the SWING V3 is made of our new HT80, a woven double ripstop high tenacity polyester. This material will bring significantly increased tear resistance and strength to the area, especially in the waves when flagging the wing. 

WING DESIGN 

Through Sail Engineering, we have conceived a completely new design; everything has been precisely thought-out to adapt the wing’s shape to the tensions and new materials. 

Every panel on the SWING V3 is precisely laid to carry a specific load. The front of the wing combines horizontal panels separated by a vertical seam from the innovative radial center panels, which are mapped to accurately follow every load trajectory. The trailing edge is controlled by a vertical panel in 80g. Small radial cuts are also implemented on the wingtips and on the back of the strut to spread tensions. Aligning the fibre exactly along the load paths means that stretch can be controlled to a never-before-seen level on a wing. 

With our staggered seams, the fabric and its seams work better to keep a smooth and efficient profile and the flying shape of the wing never deforms under load. The control of the profile is ideal, especially in the high end where stability is superb to ride fully balanced on both arms and in total comfort. 

The new trailing edge tensions and radial cuts have brought incredible performance and control. Located on the back of the strut, our innovative Load Diffuser made of overlapping panels of hard Mylar and Dacron further helps maintaining the profile sleek and efficient, leading to the ultimate stability, performances, and longevity. 

Every reinforcement on this wing has been reviewed to ensure durability and to save weight. 

HANDLES 

To further improve and optimize the rider’s control of the wing, we have rigidified our handles while keeping our original, lighter construction that doesn’t include any hard parts that could damage your wing, ding your board, or hit yourself. Our grippy, ergonomic and comfortable handles allow for some flexibility so your wrist is always in line with your arm. 

This also gave us the opportunity to design the strut just as we liked. The front of it goes down straight away on your front hand before going up into the wing’s profile near your back hand. This leads to a more natural position to sheet in. 

EXCEL IN THE WAVES 

The SWING V3 is virtually a brand-new wing and an improvement of the V2 in all areas. With optimized materials and design, this wing is super stable, light, comfortable and balanced, all while maintaining a certain smoothness in its traction. 

The SWING V3 has a reduced wingspan to make it easy to maneuver and surf; any change of direction is much smoother. You can concentrate on your trajectories, the waves, and controlling your foil without needing to check if the wingtips are touching the water. It holds perfectly in the air in a neutral position when turning in the waves and flies itself flawlessly, leaving you free to use the power of the wave with little resistance. Surfing or downwinding will undoubtedly bring sheer joy. 

Its compactness coupled with the new, more powerful profile give it an excellent planing start with an easy pumping. This will allow every rider, regardless of their level, to use a smaller surface area for even more maneuverability. Its traction will also enable you to go for a smaller board for even more freedom in your surfing. 

The SWING will easily pick up speed but with a good angle, before being easily forgotten about in freefly. With the STRIKE V3 delivering stability beyond compare, we could have a flatter dihedral angle and thus reach a bigger projected area. In turn, the power and pumping abilities are even more improved for planing starts. This allows riders to use a smaller wing or board than before. 

A new and slightly more compact outline with less span makes the STRIKE V3 easier to pump and ride. The center of traction has been perfectly placed right in front of the rider to guarantee a perfect balance on both arms. 

Finally, all profiles have been revised to accommodate our new parameters. We were able to slightly reduce the V3’s profile thickness to bring even more comfort and control in strong winds. The high end potential of this STRIKE V3 is impressive, with an effective forward traction that won’t let you overexert yourself even when overpowered.

Moving away from kite fabricsThe efforts on a kite and on a wing are completely different.
Here, we are talking about the structure of our products. Even if the canopy is the surface that receives the wind, the leading edge and the struts of a kite or a wing make up the main structure, and therefore guarantee their qualities in flight.Held by two central handles, its two sides tend to deform under wind pressure. This is why the leading edge of a 5m² kite is between 10-15cm in diameter, while the leading edge of a wing with the same surface is about twice as big.HITEX - The High Tenacity Polyester 2 

The larger the diameter of the leading edge, the larger the surface area of the fabric.
The air pressure in a volume is applied to the cm², under the formula:
pressure (Pa) = Force (N) / Surface (m²).
With the same inflation, the material of the leading edge of a wing receives a much higher pressure than that of a kite.
Moreover, in normal use, a wing is more often left flapping, dragged on abrasive surfaces, soaked in salt water, etc.

HITEX - The High Tenacity Polyester 3

 

The ideal fabric for a wing has increased pressure resistance, limited deformation, and outstanding durability.

 

The High Tenacity Polyester: HITEX.

After working with our fabric manufacturer partners for a long time, we decided to use High Tenacity Polyester, a technical material offering a high resistance to elongation and superior durability.

Because each part of a wing does not require the same resistance to deformation, we developed two weights: 178g for the center of the wing and 158g for the wingtips.
The center of the wing must not deform in any way; it is the direct link between the user’s hands and the wind, and its rigidity guarantees stability of the wing while riding.

It is however interesting to keep the wingtips less rigid. Indeed, a controlled deformation of the wingtips allows to pump more efficiently, to absorb strong wind gusts, and thus to offer an increased comfort throughout the ride.

The use of this high tenacity fibre, in weights perfectly adapted to our sport and our designs, has allowed us to reduce the diameter of the leading edge and to limit the use of additional reinforcements. This results in improved aerodynamics and reduced weight, offering better performances.

 

The HITEX is coated with PLASMA, an innovation exclusive to our supplier, which guarantees increased durability of the fabric. Coupled with high tenacity polyester fibres, it makes HITEX the most durable material on the market. Our wings stay in good shape much longer and thus retain their original design and performance over time.

The Duotone Unit 2024 is yet taken another step ahead of the pack and is spiced with a new level of riding comfort, improved drift stability and features you simply don’t want to miss.

The Duotone Unit led the way in Wing design over the past years. Many of our competitors tried to copy and match the performance and handling, yet with the combination of wing design, technology and materials the Unit is still the benchmark out there.

The 2024 model brings us another step forward with the introduction of a long carbon front handle allowing one-handed riding, an angled strut, which increases the riding comfort and with tweaks on the outline, twist and canopy tension further improving the Units power delivery and drift stability.

Designer Ken Winner optimized the angles of the strut in the handle area, resulting in a more natural riding position with the back arm being straighter and not constantly pulled in, which is especially noticeable when riding toe side.

The second great improvement to the handling is the introduction of a significantly longer carbon front handle, allowing the rider to bring the front hand further back and fly the wing one-handed for minutes. The Slick is our latest Freeride & Freestyle Wing featuring the Mini Boom – designed to enhance your flying experience with increased lift, power, and hang time. The Slick boasts exceptional stability and balance, allowing for a smooth ride through gusts and lulls.

The new version of Duotone’s Mini Boom Wing was crafted with a clear objective – to amplify power while expanding the wind range and increasing the sweet spot. Not only does it provide more lift for jumps and Freestyle tricks, but it also will have you flying on the foil with minimal pumping, making a huge difference in light winds and for less experienced riders.

The MOD3 canopy makes a significant impact on the wing’s performance, enhancing its grunt, low-end power, and direct response due to its low stretch characteristics. The higher modulus fabric and construction details ensure that the Slick’s shape and profile remain, even in strong gusts, resulting in rapid acceleration without the need for hand placement or riding position adjustments. Furthermore, the MOD3 canopy improves the wing’s longevity and durability.

The deeper profile enhances the lift and makes for a smoother power delivery and provides a forgiving ride feel making it easy and intuitive for riders with varying experience and different wind conditions.

This feature enhances the learning curve for beginners, enabling them to master the basics quickly. Additionally, the constant and predictable pull makes it easier to execute freestyle tricks and rotational jumps with ease.

The Slick’s refined strut flex and wing tip angles ensure consistent power delivery and a smooth and consistent ride through gusts.

Duotone Ventis

Duotone Ventis

The Ventis is our latest range extension for light wind wing foiling! With maximum lift and power packed into a sleek, reduced wing tip design, you’ll be flying while others are left grounded.

Light wind Wing Foiling had previously required advanced pumping techniques, but the Ventis transforms marginal conditions with active lift that pulls you up and on Foil without the need for excessive pumping. The two side struts retain the rigid frame and wings profile to allow for a reduction of the wing tips, meaning you are now less prone to catch or drag the wing tip when starting or pumping to get on foil. Sizes of 7m and 8m become manageable with this effective tip reduction even for smaller or less experienced riders. The side struts not only enhance handling, they also allow to keep the profile of the canopy all the way towards the tips. This increases lift and power through the entire surface of the wing while still maintaining good canopy tension, flying stability and depower.

Efficiency and performance are at the forefront of the Ventis design, which is why we’ve incorporated our lightweight 50g ripstop canopy material with focus on thread orientation in each panel, keeping the large canopy area of the wing as light as possible while delivering direct response and performance.

The longer carbon front handle on the Ventis enables one-handed riding and adds benefits for handling and mastering maneuvers.

The strut profile of the Ventis enhances the ergonomics of the handles, resulting in a more comfortable angle for your hands to be positioned. This allows you to maintain a straighter back arm position, enabling you to enjoy longer, more comfortable sessions on the water.

Premium Aluula material is used throughout the leading edge and struts. In combination with the sleek 3-strut design, this material provides a lightweight, rigid frame that offers unmatched performance in light wind conditions. The Ventis D/LAB delivers light, responsive and impressive lift that pulls you up and onto the foil without the need for excessive pumping.

The rigid and responsive 3-strut Aluula frame, has allowed designer Ken Winner to reduce the wing tips, to minimize catching or dragging a wing tip, resulting in 7 and 8 meter wings that are  user friendly and accessible even for smaller riders and those with less experience.

The additional two struts have enhanced the performance and created a highly efficient canopy profile all the way to the tips, increasing lift and power throughout the entire surface area of the wing, with optimal canopy tension, flying stability, and de-power.

With the new Unit 2023 we are starting a new era of wing design. Featuring MOD3, a new canopy that changes everything! The latest edition Unit offers more power, better hang time and improved drift stability.

From the first pump, you’ll notice the additional power MOD3 brings to the wing. With responsive handling through the rigid handles. The 2023 Unit gets you up in flight mode sooner, with an improved grunt and low end allowing you to use smaller-sized wings.

The higher modulus MOD3 fabric holds the shape of the wing with double the strength in warp direction and 3 times* the stretch resistance in bias direction compared to traditional canopies.

The small gain in weight becomes secondary once you feel the power, draft stability, and wide range of the new Unit. MOD3 remains fresh like its day one and significantly improves the tear resistance and canopy strength.

But it’s not only the canopy that makes the 2023 Unit our best wing to date. We’ve optimized the dihedral angle, as well as the tip and strut twist for better drift stability when surfing or flying through basic maneuvers. The extra lift and power deliver more hang time when jumping.

The stronger front handle with better stand-off is another detail that improves the surfing characteristics of the Unit range.

For better visibility Designer Ken Winner implemented the window layout from the Slick SLS to improve vision and overall safety at crowded spots with minimal impact on the lightweight structure of the Unit.

The lightweight rigid handles have become a benchmark in wing design for their direct steering and power transfer allowing the rider quick adjustments through its grip range combined with pump-and-go simplicity and minimal packing size.

For 2023 the Aluula leading edge and strut combine with our new MOD3 canopy and the result is mind blowing! The latest version of Aluula fabric offers unmatched weight, ride compliance and response, which results in a lighter wing with improved lift, drift, power and hang time. The instantaneous feedback from the Unit D/LAB allows you to fly earlier, jump higher and rotate quicker.

WAVE & DOWNWIND / JUMPING & FREESTYLE / FREERIDE

The MOD3 Canopy channels the energy from the Aluula material into pure acceleration and sheer grunt! The higher modulus MOD3 fabric holds the shape of the wing with double the strength in the warp direction and 3 times the stretch resistance in the bias direction over a traditional canopy.

Lower stretch significantly improves draft stability, power delivery and the pumping efficiency of the wing, which ultimately allows the use of smaller wings in lighter winds and the new Unit D/LAB sees an increased usable range. The new durable MOD3 remains crisp and fresh like its day one and in addition, significantly improves the tear resistance and canopy strength.

Similar to the design refinements seen in the Original Unit for 2023, designer Ken Winner has optimized the dihedral angle, as well as the tip and strut twist for enhanced drift stability when surfing or flying through basic manoeuvres.

The front handle has been reinforced for better stand-off and control when surfing with your wing flagged, while the window layout offers better visibility for improved safety allowing you to always see your surroundings.

Our rigid handles have revolutionized wing design for their direct steering and power transfer allowing the rider quick adjustments through its grip range combined with pump-and-go simplicity while maintaining a lightweight minimal size that is easy to pack away at the end of a session.

The Unit D/LAB excels in the surf but loves powerful riding, jumps and tricks at all levels. It’s your choice between Unit Original and D/LAB but just keep in mind, if you want the ultimate in performance then it has to be the Unit D/LAB!

For high-speed performance, efficiency is key. We’ve engineered Mode, our high-speed performance wing, with high tensile strength N-Weave 45 cross-weave reinforced woven fibre airframe and Matrix N-HTRS canopy for the most efficient power delivery on the market. Developing these new material technologies has allowed us to create a stiffer, lighter and more durable wing without geometric compromise (and without the high-performance price tag).

N-Weave 45 reduces structural deflection and transfers wind energy into greater forward speed, explosive boost and hangtime for freestyle tricks. We’ve specifically designed our new low-stretch, low-deflection Matrix N-HTRS high-tenacity canopy material to manage the added tension of the N-Weave 45 airframe, further increasing the wind range, and holding its shape in all conditions.

The Mode has a fast, VMG-optimized design, which lets you sail closer to the wind, on higher upwind angles, and reduces your need to tack or gybe. We designed the Mode primarily for high-speed performance, but the stiffer airframe also translates into unprecedented loft for higher jumps and forward momentum on landings.

With incredible high-end stability, the 3.5 to 4.8m are ideal for use in stronger winds, while the 5.5m and 6.8m are optimised for greater power in lighter air. The wing has a balanced lower aspect ratio with rounded wingtips to reduce tip strike, and the new panel layout delivers wingtip stability and increased tension under load. Featuring Carbon GripLock rigid micro-trim control handles for immediate response, and gybe-friendly window positioning.
